A TV script-writing team is breaking up because one of them, a former accountant, is fed up with his partner's drinking habits, and thinks he can do better on his own. The drunkard, however, provides most of the ideas. He also knows about the accountant's shady past and threatens blackmail. The accountant responds by arranging the perfect murder, then taking a trip with his wife. When he returns he expects to find his partner's body and call the police with a perfect alibi. But what he finds instead is very strange. When an inspector does investigate, it appears there may not have been a murder; Or has there? A thriller with more twists than a corkscrew.

Buffaloes and Indians roaming the cornfields make the switchboard light up, and a cowboy with a nasty bump on his head wanders to the house. As he recuperates, he turns life upside down for the Potter household. Inman is a novelist and screenwriter and based his story on an actual Wild West Show train wreck in NC.
